Beaches for pets each year are increasingly popular on the Croatian coast, and many cities have realized that they finally need to take action and meet long-standing appeals to pet owners and their four-legged friends, to provide them a place where they will be able to refresh from the hellish heat. In addition to sea, dogs bathe in rivers, lakes and streams. Unfortunately, the beach for dogs are still the exception rather than the rule and are scattered (without clear rules) along our beautiful country.

 We bring you a brief overview of dog friendly beaches!

CRIKVENICA (beach Podvorska)
Dog beach, recently voted the best on the Croatian coast, gained after the marquee for dogs showers intended exclusively for four-legged swimmers. The story of a dog beach dates back to 2010. Mound harbor Podvorska years is of Crikvenica and tourists used to walk dogs, along with some cooling in the sea. People did not use the small beach on the embankment,  so it was logical decision to make this small beach on the promenade, in the center of Crikvenica, an official dog beach.

CRES (beach Bijar)
At the eastern end of the camp is settled the beach intended for dogs and their owners, so that you and your pet have a space for yourself and share the enjoyment of sea life.

Camp Slatina: The camp was in 2008 awarded the Yellow board of ADAC for its innovative project “Camping cum cane”. The “Camping cum cane” has been introduced to facilitate the coexistence of dogs and their owners with guests who do not have a dogs. So in the camp there are beaches for dogs, dog showers and signage related to this project.

KOMIŽA (plaža Vartalac)
Ideal for your pets; pets will enjoy clean water at the beach of volcanic origin. Near Vartalac is beach Kamenica where you can find pure spring water in the event that your pet is thirsty, and even the natural toys are not far away, they are located right on the beach (wood from agave, flip flops, maybe the sea or some careless tourist or domestic  reject a plastic bottle).

KRK (plaža Koralj, uvala Dražica, Šilo, Baška, Njivice)
Island Krk have three beaches for dogs. Beach Redagara, which is located in Krk near the family beach Koralj, Vela beach in Baška which is also one of the best family beaches on Adriatic, and beach Kijac in Njivice, wich will also welcome you and your four-legged friends.

LOŠINJ (various locations from beach Veli žal to Lanterna)
There are several beaches for dogs on island Lošinj. In Mali Lošinj one of many beaches is located between Veli žal and cape Madonna. Another one like that is located near beach Bojčić, in Veli Lošinj after breakwater Rovenska. Every beach is labeled with sign on which are dogs allowed.

ROVINJ (bay Lone, bay Cuvi and bay Borik-Figarola)
Even three beaches in Rovinj – in the Bay Cuvi, the Golden cape below the quarry and in Borik – have a label that there is allowed swimming for dogs. In the zone of 15 meters from putting up signs, all dogs regardless of size and race can swim under the supervision of the owner, with no time limit.

In addition to “dog friendly” beaches, tourist Rovinj, at least when it comes to facilities of Maistra, offers the possibility of entry and residence of dogs in hotels, resorts and camps. In particular, when it comes to hotels that offer the possibility of two, and this is the most exclusive, five stars Lone and Monte Mulini.

However, this service costs and so the pet owner will for his dogs comfort and accommodation per day pay about 30 euros. Also, dogs can with no problem get into the camps (the exception is Valdaliso), or in tourist resorts, where the price for pets is 10 euros per day.

Follow live events in the waters of Šibenik!

Estuary of the river Krka is known spawning of many fish species that have shown the first test photos. Visual materials and data to be collected with the help of an underwater camera, the meteorological station, as well as panoramic camera aimed at Šibenik and probe for measuring the temperature of the sea, scientists will use to monitor the life of that part of the seabed.

Thanks to the collaboration of scientists from the Institute for Marine and Environmental Institute Ruđer Bošković RBI (IRB) and the Association of Šibenik Weather (ŠM), the public is able to follow live the first underwater shots taken by the camera installed in the waters of Martinska near Šibenik at a depth of 5m. The project is financially supported by the Tourist Board of Šibenik. The plans for this project were initiated last year, however, due to insufficient financial resources have been postponed for this year. For the realization of the project was spent almost 180 meters of various cables, protection and insulation. The whole system was designed by and implemented Marin Brajković and Darko Begić from Šibenik Weather Association, and Neven Cukrov with RBI.

The system is equipped with a reflector which in summer mode illuminates the seabed daily from 20h to 23h, and the term starts and stops will change depending on changes in the length of day and night.

Šibenik area, thanks to a central position on the Croatian Adriatic and because of the concentrated water connection sections – fresh, brackish and saline water, is extremely suitable for the development of aquaculture and scientific research. This area is the subject of study scientists for many years. Thus, laboratory space RBI in Martinska opened in 1980 precisely in order to study the basic processes and human impact on the natural characteristics of the water, the development of aquaculture, sustainable development of aquaculture and tourism and training of young scientists.

PhD. Neven Cukrov from the Institute for Marine and Environmental Research RBI explained that this joint venture association Šibenik Weather (ŠM) and RBI one of the projects that contribute to the positioning station Martinska as marine observatory and stresses that the scientific community has already expressed interest in collected material.

Paradise for dogs in Croatia – On beach in Crikvenica they can get beer, ice cream and surf boards.

Monty`s Dog Beach Bar was opened last week in Crikvenica, it drew attention of worlds media, and agency Reuters published story about beach and bar which are heaven for four-legged friends. Luxury awaits for dogs, from deck chairs to surfing bord, they also offer them „dog beer“,  made from chicken and vegetable foundation, ice cream, chips and other sorts of things.

As it is writen on official page, on beach Lučica dogs are welcome already fourth season, but from this year they offer them an unprecedented luxuries.

In addition to carefree swim with your dog, for them are specially designed umbrellas. Judging by the comments on social networks, visitors are delighted. „In a cafe on the beach canine guests immediately receive a bowl with water and dog cookies on a plate – respect“, wrote one visitor.

However, apart from the clear sea and love for animals, Monty’s Dog Beach Bar offers accommodation for dogs in the hotel in Križišće, 15 minutes from the town Rijeka. At night the dogs reside exclusively in a closed air-conditioned space adapted and intended only to them. To make them feel as at home, their space is furnished as a living room, during the day they can watch television and listen to music. Sleeping rooms with boxes are separated, and the dogs they can use whenever they want privacy and peace.

They offer several packages, depending on whether you bring your own food or you want to use theirs, and they also offer service PokupiMe (Pick Me up) so if you do not have a car, employees will come get the dog for you. They have in plan services as dog walking and home visits.
